Health Ministry Corner: Walk to Bethlehem continues

We are plodding along on the Walk to Bethlehem. We hope to build up some speed as more of you get started with logging your miles. We are having some beautiful weather this fall. It is a good time to check out the neighborhood and observe the signs of preparation for winter. The trees are turning colors and shedding their leaves, making crackling sounds as you shuffle the leaves along on your walk. Load up the leaves in bags. Remember 20 minutes of activity equals 1 mile. It is time to fire up the crock pot or put the soup pot on the stove. Fill it full of veggies and it will add up toward your mile a day for 5 fruits/vegetables.
Remember to pick up your devotion for the week each Sunday and a mileage log for the coming week.
We will be having a bonus mileage sheet where you can pick up a few onetime points for healthy habits like getting your flu shot.
Remember you can sign up any time and join the Walk. Let's get walking!

Mission Moments:
Along our walk this fall we are highlighting the many ways Pikes Peak Church serves as God's hands. We started learning about serving close to home: baby quilts, clothes closet, the Trinity Church food pantry and Westside CARES. Then we broadened the circle and looked at La Puente in Alamosa and the McCurdy Indian School in Alamosa. We will keep widening our view of the horizon and look at the region, the rest of the USA and the world in November and December.

PSST! Don't forget your flu shot. Do it for you family. Do it for your friends and neighbors. Just do it.

Our total miles for the firsts 2 weeks is 748!! That's is not including Pastor Joyce's miles for week and probably a few strays that haven't started recording yet! Please put your mileage sheets in the pouch attached to the world map in Gamber Hall.
